HELLO Hello Hello and welcome to our Blog! As you can imagine, we are VERY excited about our upcoming adventure and can not thank you all enough for supporting these two organizations which are very near and dear to both Vicki and I. The brave Men and Women they support deserve
nothing but the best treatment available so we are honored to be doing this
hike for them.
Our goal for this blog is to keep you all up to date with where we are and how we are progressing - we promise to keep our updates short and sweet and not bore you all to death with details of every leaf and tree we come across! We expect to be able to update once every few days or so when we hit the trail towns to restock and shower!
At the moment we are busy getting prepared - sorting out equipment and increasing our fitness and planning our schedule. The donation link to Help for Heroes is up and running. Hopefully Wounded Warriors will be up within a few days too! That is all for now. Feedback on the blog is welcomed as we are new to this!
Scott, a recently retired US Air Force Lt Col and Vicki, a British MSc Wildlife Management and Conservation graduate from Uni of Reading, UK along with their two golden retrievers, Mojo and Skye, will be thru-hiking the epic Appalachian Trail, Americas oldest and most famous hiking trail. We will take 6-7months to hike the 2180 scenic miles crossing 14 States along the east coast, raising money along the way for two very important charities US Wounded Warrior Project and UK Help for Heroes
The Men and Women of our Military services deserve nothing but the best for their sacrifices.
Please visit our links above and donate what you can to these Organizations. The Men and Women of our Military services deserve nothing but the absolute best for their sacrifices. THANK YOU!!
Very happy for and proud of you guys!!! Enjoy : )
ReplyDeleteAwesome work Team Willits! We shall be making people aware of your work over the coming months so good luck with the preps and start working out to get yourselves in shape for this challenge. And remember 'when the going gets tough, it is what it is!' HAH!
ReplyDeleteGood luck guys, a brilliant thing to do and hope it goes well
ReplyDeleteWish you well! Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous. My Brother lives only a few miles from the trail in PA. Let me know if they can provide you support in any way. Are you hiking north to south or south to north?
ReplyDeleteTake lots of pics.
Hi Mike. thanks. We may take you up on that offer. We are going south to north. Come join us for a few days if you can, or a weekend. A few folks have mentioned that idea to us already.

ReplyDeleteAwesome Zip,
ReplyDeleteI will follow your progress. Congrats on your retirement...what a way to start your new chapter of life.
What a challenge folks! No ordinary walk in the woods. Best wishes, Beth xxx
ReplyDeleteLet's grab a beer when you hit Atlanta. Hope the planning is going well.
ReplyDeletePlanning is going great! Boots are being broken in and we are trying out the tent tonight...in our barn next to the woodstove...slow and steady. Trip planning is going very well also. Im on day 52, and so far no issues with the dogs. We arrive in Atlanta on 15 March. You guys are invited to Beth and Gavins for the St Paddys party on the 17th if you would like. Love to see you!
